Gulliver 1.6.4 Update!!!

Hey all!  Of course this had to happen while I head off for qork, but I'm happy to announce that Gulliver for Minecraft 1.6.4 has just been released!!!

Later today we will be commandeering Little Brother to do testing.  That process will take about a weekbor so before we're comfortable switching over to the latest release (and all the guides get updated accordingly).  

If only forge 1.6.4 was easier to get working...

Oh I'm surprised, the version of Forge I used installed as per usual (forge-1.6.4-9.11.1.965).  

Anyway, Little Brother is now up and running with Gulliver for MC 1.6.4, so please help with testing.  

oog... I install it, it says "ok". Then I hit the play button and the game never opens. It works perfectly fine with 1.6.2... I really hate to be a bother, but I have not found a way to fix it, and I think other people will almost certainly have a similar problem. Did you just use the regular installer for it? Or did you install it in a special way?

hmmm, well you can post on her support thread with the crash logs if you're having problems like that.  But what I do is install the forge installer, then the new gulliver installer, then switch the profile to the new one created for this version of Gulliver, and it seems to work for me.  

So it was java the whole time. I'm glad I kept the installers for my old javas now...

Just dont purge your 1.6.2 install just yet... we can't update Big Sister until Tarig finishes his updates to Forge Essentials.  

It might also be a good idea to talk to the guys who made Tabbychat... I tried installing it, but apparently it's not optimized for forge in 1.6.4, so that could cause some issues.

I'll try installing it tomorrow and see if I can get some additional details, but indeed it looks like the mod had a hiccup in 1.6.4.  If that's the case, we may have to jettison use of it, at least temporarily until we can upgrade to 1.7.  It's helpful, but not super-critical or even essential for us.  

For those of you still wondering, we're still waiting on Tarig to make some necessary adjustments to Forge Essentials 1.6.4, as the current build was woefully broken and that team has moved on to the 1.7 branch.  Our efforts helped identify a serious bug which the team used to plug a hole in the 1.7 version, but Tarig will need to backport that fix to 1.6.4.

We definitely can't do without Forge Essentials, else we lose half of our cool shops, games, rights and night event features.  D:

OKAY!!!  All Forge Essentials commands are working in Little Brother, and we are a good to go!  We even unlocked new commands that weren't accessible before... meaning that we now have the ability to allow non-opped players to fly.  ^^

I will spend some time getting some last minute spot-checks done, then we will establish a date to officially update Big Sister to Gulliver v0.14.3, possibly next Saturday!!!

Everyone should get ready to do a major update.

You will notice that there is no TabbyChat guide.  This is because there is no version of Tabbychat for Forge 1.6.4, although Forge compatibility does resume in the 1.7 versions as it got transferred to a new mod maintainer.  While Tabby can be installed standalone or using Liteloader, this is signficantly more complicated than what we previously did, and therefore not worth the effort for a mere secondary mod.  

So at least until we transition into the 1.7 era, I will be suspending all Tabbychat Requirements for roleplay until further notice, and make TabbyChat installation purely voluntarily for everyone who still finds it useful for filtering and such.

Yay!    By the way, if I may add something, make sure you do NOT use Java 8... it just doesn't work. <-- This is basically what happens.  Use Java 7 instead, and it should work fine.

Annnnnnnd... WE ARE NOW IN GULLIVER FOR 1.6.4!!! WOO!!!!!!  

As of an hour ago, Big Sister has officially and succesfully transitioned over to Gulliver v0.14.3 for Minecraft 1.6.4. The update was done carefully enough so that almost everything APPEARS to be working as before, although there are some temporary caveats for now....

1. Currently "/give @a" does not work as a command, so for now I can't do my mass cheese dispersals like I enjoying doing off-game. This is something I just discovered now, so I've sent this to Tarig to see if he can fix it -- while not a deal-breaker, it's certainly a loss of functionality.  However, "/give @p" and "/give @r" work just fine.
   
   
2. It's quite possible that /pulse now works properly, meaning that any attempt done to account for the inaccurate position of the redstone block now won't be necessary.  This also means that due to the offset it may not work properly, so any command block machines that use /pulse may need to be adjusted.
   
   
3. In-Game NBTEdit is currently inoperative due to Adfly deciding to have an outage at this time, so I can't get the 1.6.4 version.  This should only be temporary, and of course this only affects /opped players. ^^
   
   
4. Dynmap was updated to the latest 1.6.4 version, and yet still has issues displaying player heads properly -- it may be that the only way to fix this is to completely purge the old folder and rerender the entire map from scratch with the latest dynmap.  This however will be quite the task, so if we decide to go this route we will have to do it some other day, and after our marker locations have been backed up somewhere.
   
   
5. Of course we all know about the problem with TabbyChat....
   
   
6. And finally, due to the aforementioned Adfly outage, I had to revert Little Brother to the October Flavor straight up, meaning it is still running Minecraft 1.6.2 mods.  Sorry, but this too is temporary.  
   

Anyway, if you encounter any bugs while you come in and play during the weekend, PLEASE let me know in the forum's support thread and we'll try to get them addressed (or referred to Mion or Tarig).  Let's enjoy the transition and the improved Optifine, and of course the better slime and fast bats, as we wait for the next awesome update. ^^

Alrighty, I've got a sort of solution that will only affect /opped players. Remember that command spam that flooded the chat each time a command block was used? With /gamerule, it's possible to turn that notification off. Using /gamerule commandBlockOutput, it'll turn off the chat message that pops up. Note that this only affects command blocks, so personal commands will probably still show up. I'm posting this here before I do anything since it's a server-wide rule, and I was wondering if all you other opped players were okay with it. ^w^
