Cut the bellyaching. Microsoft hasn't had the property long enough to change anything at all, so if you're saying it's "unfun" now it's just because you're making it so. Either way, any changes they make will be for the latest versions, whereas we typically run a few patches behind. Go do something that doesn't revolve around the internet for a while and stop freaking out over video game justice.

At least Minecraft will get a legitimate legal team.  The stupidity fueled by a "we would appreciate if..." EULA was something that shouldn't have happened in the first place, let alone happen again.

Even Microsoft isn't stupid enough to secretly purchase what appears to be a GPL based repository; can't really get worse.

From what I've heard, Microsoft isn't going to bring the axe down on ANY of those platforms.  My logic is that if Microsoft keeps the game as open as it was before, it will stay successful.  If they "kill" the game like everyone's paranoid about, then nobody new will get it, and Microsoft just lost $2.5 billion without any profit.  So I'm sure that any changes that occur wont be as drastic as the complete shut down of over 80% of the minecraft community.  Essentially, Mojang's still here, it's just a company in a larger corporation... kind of like how Cheerios cereal is a company of General Mills, which is owned by Betty Crocker. Jeb and the rest of the important Mojang staff haven't left either... I guess we have to wait and see... we have a couple of months to prepare before its all complete in December.

All this unconfirmed stuff is just BS. Just come out and say either, "MineCraft will still be on all platforms and community based with mods allowed!" or say, "FU MINECRAFTERS GO GET A CRUDDY CONSOLE NOW!" Either way just say it I mean geez! If minecraft is ruined ill just go to nintendo completely cause screw Microsoft and sony and their petty arguments.

Minecraft is built entirely on Java, which by nature of the JVM is nigh-universally compatible.  So, Microsoft could completely rebuild Minecraft's 5 years of development into .net or C+, or they could just use what they bought and not have to waste that level of time.

I would be surprised if anything big changed; Microsoft is well aware of how upset the community has been as of late (considering all of the bukkit and EULA drama), and probably doesn't want to throw away this $2.5*10^9 asset.

And thus, there's no reason to panic.  Worst come to worst, we can switch over to Glowstone + Forge, and run the server from there.  Nothing of value was lost.
