Spookjam Mod Contributors

Hey all,

Here's a quick, fun and ever-expanding list of ways you can help contribute to this project, noting that a person doesn't have to be JUST one kind of contributor!  \^-^/

  • Coder - the standard programming "grunt"; you just code whenever and however you want [nuff said], and this could very well be the first time you ever touch Java, but you're willing to learn and contribute en masse.

  • L33t Coder - you have some or lots of programming experience and can really help polish the code, but you're expected to take your time doing it well in order to do it right.

  • Strike Coder - you are fearless and have no shame, and are always the first to take a stab at a new programming challenge the moment it shows up, even if you're hardly accurate; all that matters is setting up a beachhead to make it easier for more experienced or careful coders to finish the job.

  • Mad Scientist - you dabble in odd inventions and creations that may not be immediately part of the main project,... today... but you never know if today's insanity will be tomorrow's brilliance!

  • Code Maid - you know that coders are often sloppy or untidy or fail to properly comment their code; you go in, fix whitespaces and indents, rewrite horrid nested IF's into something that doesn't assault the eyes, and generally improve the wonder and polish of the code.

  • Porter - you dedicate yourself to porting code to newer (or even older) versions of Minecraft as needed!

  • Trainer - you don't have time to code yourself, but you're always happy to help a fellow contributor learn to be one!

  • Exterminator - You play and beta test the work to find and identify bugs, and then have the coders get off their lazy bums and fix them.

  • Qualifier - You're not much into technical mumbo jumbo, but you still know a thing or two about what's fun, what looks nice and what's well-balanced; you play test builds and suggest ways to make to make new additions more awesome (or at least not suck much).

  • Triager - If you see the development team running around like headless chickens, you step in to bring order to the chaos; you determine what's more important to fix or implement, and make sure coders work on THAT before they sink thousands of hours into a taco dimension.

  • Planner - if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. You may not be a programmer, but you're still a master explainer, and can write down how new features should work, look like and so forth... makes it easier for the coders or artists to visualize!

  • Visionary - you have great ideas all the time, some may even be inspiring to others or can help fill a few gaps in feature-sets; it behooves you to speak up and not keep quiet as you never know what kind of innovation you could stir in the hearts of your peers!

  • Researcher - you see your peers tripping and despairing over a problem or challenge, and immediately you set out into the interwebs and Youtube to get them some answers!

  • Translator - not important now, but who knows if this becomes super popular, we may need some stuff translated into other languages! Woohoo!

  • Texture Artist - Minecraft requires lots of textures and sprites... LOTS! And sometimes coders make bad artists.  Well, you might be a bad coder, but you're an awesome artist. Any questions?

  • 3D Artist - sculpting is FAR different than drawing, and certainly a heck of a lot more complicated; without you there can be no taco dragons, so you're skill is definitely in high demand.

  • Concept Artist - maybe you're not a good artist, but you don't have to be to get your ideas across; you spend a few minutes whipping up a quick pencil sketch or two, and suddenly the creative juices in everyone begin stirring!

  • Synthesizer - Minecraft is as much an AUDIO experience as it is a visual one, and it would be amazing to compose sounds from scratch, or find some free assets that can fit the bill.

  • Musician - Hey, what if we end up doing custom music discs? Who, but you, could possibly help us compose some beautiful melodies or awesome jams?

  • Documenter - major accomplishments have to be recorded, new instructions written up, and tutorials drafted and published here on the forum; you devote yourself to helping take all the chaos of forum activity, and interpret them into nice, neat walkthroughs so others can jumpstart their contributions much more easily.

  • Arbitrator - sometimes arguments can erupt between two coders or artists that inadvertently step over each other's toes; you're there as a kind of de facto Deputy to keep the peace and ensure that compromise is the first resort!

  • Diplomat - you may know people, professional coders or mod makers, who can help; or you don't know any such people, but don't mind venturing out into the wild to get help... either way, you understand that it's not WHAT you know but WHO you know that counts!

  • Cheerleader - you know that interest in projects can die fast, determination can drain and inspiration can just sort of wither like an unwatered plant; your job is to keep the motivation coming and the 'thank you's' flying, so people will just keep coming back for more!

  • Fearleader - conversely, you want to make sure your peers don't bite off more than they can chew, or go down a dark path,... if a little fear or concern is warranted to save the project from epic disaster, you don't hesitate to use your nagging for the greater good!

  • Mascot - because all major endeavors need mascots! ^_-

I guess I'll take Musician

I have another release right around the corner, and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback with it

Yay, We Like Ike! XD
You have some good tunes there on SoundCloud, definitely a welcome aspect to some custom music discs, among other possibilities!  ^v^
