Necropolis Empty Necropolis

Hey all,

It was previously mentioned that a Lich Tower from Twilight Forest could be used as a makeshift blessing shop for 8x players.  While the building is too narrow to serve this purpose, I still want to import one of these towers into our map anyway... but as a centerpiece to a new town.

I think it would be interesting to create a thematic town centered around the undead, as in a necropolis. Perhaps not even make it a standard player town, but a town exclusively for mobs, poorly lit and with custom mob spawners for unconventional mobs (e.g., wither skeletons, blazes), and perpetual dark clouds hanging over it.  It can be treated as a very large dungeon for the adventurous (and suicidal) players who want to try and siege the undead city for fame, fortune and loot.  

Plus when it comes around time for Halloween, it would make a great party destination as well.  Wink

Yeah! thats a cool idea, its like the whole town is one big dungeon to explore =P I like that, though we'd have to make it really hard xP to make it a real challenge to get into and complete it.

Also, some way of preventing giants from entering the area, since they could clear the hordes easily or help players bypass areas by lifting them up to the higher areas in the towers.

And I wouldnt be too worried about giants... the buildings would be so big and well defended (and dangerous), that they may have no trouble dispatching a foolish giant. They may even have giants of their own. Wink

Hehe, well this is a call for volunteers as well, especially since this particular project doesn't require advanced building skills. The grittier and morr decrepit, the better. Smile

I guess once I import the tower, it'll be grand opening to start this thing. It may not be right away since id like to find a great spot for it on the map... and to boost the theme, I may have to import an appropriate "biome" for it as well.

hehehe, well if we have mob spawners spawning 8x heavily armoured skeletons, it may not be a walk in the park for your average giant sieger. Not to mention such a Necropolis would probably have ghasts and blazes as well, which surely are a Giant's worst nightmare (at least a Giant not equipped with a fire resistance potion, hehe).

And later tonight, I am going to attempt to convert Biomes O Plenty biomes into vanilla-compatible ones, and see if these can be imported to our server... if so, not only would I be able to use a Deadland (or something comparably dark and spooky) as the basis for the Necropolis, but also we'll have the ability to add some gorgeous landscaping to our world. Smile

Hehehehe, you mean 8x skellies with leather pants? (And what makes you think I don't have a barrel of fire resistance on hand at all times?)   Giant Pat 

Anywho, that sounds great! ...Though I have this sinking suspicion that for these new biomes to be easily accessible, we'll need a new world...

Okay, Monster Island is as good as set up!

It's not quite the Necropolis idea I originally had in mind... but it CAN be.  Very Happy

The Deadlands region of Monster Island would be a great place for a spooky town and cemetery, complete with giant beast skeletons littering the land, and other creepy things. Certainly the area is large enough for that.  >v>
