Forge not working!

Hi all. I have downloaded and installed forge 1.11. It looks like it installed correctly (forge username added, as well as a mods folder in mine craft files) but the game won't launch. I have an older mac and downloaded the legacy version of Minecraft. I also put a legacyjavafixer.jar in the mods folder and that didn't work. I have Java 8. Any help would be appreciated as my son really wants to try out mods! Thanks!

Could you please tell me what you are attempting to accomplish? We're running MC 1.6.4 on the primary server and the secondary is currently not modded. I believe the legacy java fixer is for 1.6/1.7 which could be what is causing your problem.
