Forum Roleplaying
Right, so here I'd like to discuss Forum Roleplaying a bit, some of the rules adhering to that, etc. etc. (so maybe it'd be a good idea to make this a sticky...).
So, forum RPing is usually pretty slow compared to MC and Skype roleplays, for those who don't know, but very handy for people in different timezones, or just for longer roleplays/series of roleplays. Also, everything is documented right here for future abuse/quotation.
Now, as for starting a roleplay, typically people make a 'sign-up' topic for people to make characters (and usually have them critiqued). However, you can just use one topic for 'sign-ups' and for actual roleplaying, since we only have one big roleplaying topic. At any rate, the 'sign-up' topic consists of two major parts - the character sheet (usually accompanied by an example), and an introduction to the roleplay (occasionally accompanied by a summary of the universe it takes part in, any notable history, maybe even a map or something).
A character sheet is just a well-formatted summary of any given character, and can be tailored from roleplay to roleplay. They usually consist of a few key points, though: Name, Age (at least a rough estimate), Appearance (very important), biography/background (what happened to the character before the roleplay starts), and personality (a summary of what the character is like). Of course, DMs/GMs/people leading the roleplays are free to make their character sheets look however they like.
Once a sign-up topic is posted, players who want to join then take the character sheet provided, fill it out with a character of their choice, and post it up. Then the DM/GM must decide whether the character would fit in the roleplay - they are perfectly within their rights to reject any character posted for any reason.
Once all that is taken care of, and a reasonable number of players has joined the roleplay, the DM/GM can do one of two things: make another topic for the actual roleplay to start in, or they can use their sign-up topic to roleplay in. I personally prefer using a separate topic, but it's up to the DM/GM whether or not they follow in my footsteps.
Also, here are some general rules/guidelines to keep in mind:
-Keep the content in these RPs PG, or maybe PG-13 (minimal foul language, no sexual content, and no excessive amounts of blood, gore, and/or violence please.)
-No god-moding (basically doing whatever you want - slaying ridiculous amounts of enemies, flying into space when you cannot reasonably do so, etc. etc.). If you are in a player versus player situation, ask the GM/DM or the other player how far you can/should go, rather than just doing what you think is best. It's better to be safe than sorry, even if it means letting a character you don't like win.
-Do not take whatever happens in these roleplays personally. Some people will make characters that are utterly despicable, and will get on your nerves. Hopefully they're just having fun playing as that character, which leads to my next rule/guideline...
-Do not, under any circumstances, tick other people off on purpose, unless the character you are playing would do that. If that is the case, make it perfectly clear, and heck, apologize out of character to the victim. If you're not sure what to do - it's better to be safe than sorry.
-One final note: any serious breach of these rules will not only get you warned/possibly banned here, but will reflect on your status on the server. If you can't keep it clean here, I'm not going to trust you to keep it clean in Minecraft.
These rules guidelines are up to discussion to a certain degree.
Oh, and feel free to post any questions, comments or concerns

Re: Forum Roleplaying
Oh no, Speed this is just for forum roleplays - if you wanna Skype roleplay or RP on the server, that's your own business XD
So, bottom line - this topic is just a ruleset for any RPs held on this forum, not on Skype or on the server
