December Flavor Mods

Let's determine the flavor!

Yay!  Based on the results, looks like Candycraft + Christmascraft will be a winner!  

And to sweeten the deal, Jammy has graciously volunteered to be our monthly mod for this event, and has vowed to learn everything and anything related to Candies, from how to take adorable jelly bunnies, to how to make a fountain out of caramel.  ^^

I'll probably work on the conversion tomorrow.

Houston, we have a problem!  ^^;

Well I loaded both on the server tonight, although after trying to set up a nice "Christmasy" spawn area, my game crashed just for putting a christmas stocking i had in my hand in the wrong place.  And every time I tried to log back in, I'd keep crashing again.  I guess it's not a beta for nothing.  

So anyway, once I removed the Christmascraft mod, things were working fine again.  So I guess it's not worth the risk having it around after all. >.<

Now then, currently LB is only Candycraft.  We'll have to make a decision of keeping it by itself (and then maybe pairing it with a new mod), or reinstating Wintercraft.  

Personally I think Candycraft is really cool and adorable, and with a little help it CAN definitely make for christmas-themed buildings.

I'll let you guys decide what to do, but I wont announce the December Flavor yet until this is finalized. ^^

I've actually tried it out, and while it's a bit strange and not as full-featured as wintercraft or as normal as Christmascraft, it has a lot of clever and cute features, AND it certainly has enough christmas-spirit to get us through this little problem.  Plus... SNOWMAN!!

personally I think that since Candycraft is quite a big mod, It would go pretty fine on it's own ^^

But on the other hand I have tried Christmas festives and it would also be an awesome one for christmas

Sorry to interupt this but uh, Christmas Festivities and Candycraft are not compatible. (and yes, I tried both of them together with no extra mods) SCRATCH THAT. CANDY CRAFT 1.3 VERSION IS BROKEN. *tries version 1.2.3 (1.7.10)*

Well, atleast I got past the launcher, but I tried to get on the server but I need the 1.3 version >.< and THATS the one that I kept crashing

Or can we just change it to wintercraft+chirstmascraft? Cause I just want to join the server >.<

Also the server only has candycraft 1.7.10 at the moment, so if you want to play you can, but I will be purging that world anyway once im done.

Well it didn't crash for either of us, so probably a setup defect on your end.  Figure it out, or post a crash log here.

Christmascraft is buggy and Christmas Festivities, as it turns out, is not server-compatible.  So I think we're stuck in the water, and I have to make an administrative decision...

Either stick to the vote and go Candycraft no matter what....

Or try to save Christmas and do something comparable and possibly even better.

So as hard a decision as this was, I decided that it's probably best to scrap Candycraft for now as it refuses to be compatible with anything Christmas-themed we can use, and while it does contain a few charming additions, the vast majority are simply not helpful for the holiday season. Besides, knowing what I know now, I was always second-guessing having to promote sugar and flour consumption to such extremes.  >.<

Wintercraft is admittedly the best Christmas mod out there, and using it again really cements that title.  But by itself it's not really worth all that much, so to add a little of what was great about CandyCraft, I have decided to pair it with the venerable Biomes O Plenty AND Mo Creatures.  That way we get beautiful sweeping biomes (the spawn area is in the middle of giant snow-covered pine trees) with tons of new blocks, and many wonderful animals of all kinds roam the rest of the countryside (in addition to the WinterCraft ones).

So there you have it, and the server is currently running in that configuration, so it's a done deal.
