Committee discussion thread

This will be a thread for the Little Brother committee to discuss, ask for advice and, as it becomes necessary, delegate responsibilities.

For reference, here is the list of things Cia said we should get done before the end of the month:

• Write up some quick guidelines for how we should run the server.
  
• Collect between 6-10 mod configuration ideas, and open a poll to vote on February Flavor.
  
• Collect some map ideas, and open a poll to vote on the one for the February Flavor.
  
• Nominate 1-2 moderators to manage the server in February.  Interested players have a chance to gain moderatorship for a month by participating in a snap election.  
  
• Schedule January's Demolition Day.

I was thinking for the Demolition Day Sunday the 26th, or the 25, so it can be on a weekend and most people can attend.
If you disagree, you may propose something else.

Oh yes, a great suggestion, Audrey.

Just confer with people if they want to get rid of the default Snapshot world so quickly, or if this would give them enough time to handle all other remaining things to do. If not, perhaps the following weekend (Saturday, February 1st) might be necessary, even if that does dig into the time available for the February Flavor.

Feb. First seems like a better date, and i am in the process of trying to decide between two mods to recommend, they are my all time favorite mods so i may just post both for people to look at

So far these mods have been collected

• ars magica 2

• minecraft comes alive

• hostile earth mod pack

• better than wolves

• portal gun mod

• dragon mounts mod

• plugg ins

• fossils and archeology mod

• aether 2 mod

• custom npcs mod

I did not include weapons because what exact mod that will be used is still up in the air but a decision still can be made. now lots of these offer very little alone, so I suggest that we mix a few, some that are very good supportive mods are

• Npcs

• minecraft comes alive

• dragon mounts

• a weapons mod

I think that these can be swapped around with the other mods in order to make something for February.
What do you guys think?

Actually, I decided on Balkon's due to mob AI issues in Winter Warfare. The completed set is Balkon's weapons and Millienare.

Yay! Some committee action finally!! Good job Break and Lab!!

Just a reminder to every other committee member who is dilly-dallying... we are getting very close to the end of the month, so you're going to have to start making some snap decisions and elections soon. I would recommend next Monday, the 27th, to be a good time to open some polls.

We can probably forego a special map next month, but besides mod selection, you also need to think about monthly Moderator selection too. Would be a good time to open a thread on that, so people who want to try out for Monthly Moderators can do their campaign trails. Just remember, only 10 nominees can make it to the final poll.

Hi nice committee members!!

Just a friendly reminder by this totally-laissez-faire person-admin-thingie....

We're on the verge of ending the month, so I'd advise setting up some due dates soon.  Audrey was already nice enough to do the mod poll, so I suggest closing the poles on either Monday or Tuesday to give me plenty of time to test.  I will see if I can get the mod package working before the Demolition Day to confirm the new flavour... otherwise, we'll fall back on the second-best pick.

Moderator polls should start tomorrow, and possibly end Wednesday or so.  If people don't submit their nominations and campaign before polls start, I'd advising have a tough-luck policy.  It doesn't matter if only one person ends up being on the poll... the goal is to reward participation more than anything.

On the other hand, I don't technically make the rules, you guys do.  So by all means, do what you feel is best.  

It's probably too late to pick a good map, so I may just choose a nice random one online.

And we still have no rules, so we'll play it by ear.  No doubt the new Monthly Moderator will make her own as she goes along. ^^

Also, just a reminder, aside from Owners and Field Moderators, only the Monthly Moderator will be opped going forward.  One or two monthly moderators should be enough to manage a 10-person server. ^^

Okay Committee members, February is upon us and so far no schedule has been hammered out by you guys.

At least we now have a February Flavor and some Monthly Moderators to go with it, but we also need to have our Backup Day and our Demolition Day, as well as an official grand opening day for the February Flavor.

Now you may decide to shorten or skip the Demolition Day this month, which is fine by me since there isnt much to demolition anyway. But its YOU guys that have to tell me what to do -- otherwise, its no skin for me to just wait an extra ween or so to get any kind of response back ; (

So in short... HOP TO IT, PEOPLE!!!

So, I officially suggest we publish Little Brother hosting Ars Magica 2, Thaumcraft 4, and Mystcraft TODAY, or soon. It wouldn't look good for the Committee if we fail to get something out on time for the first switch, after all.

Hello Committee Members,

I think we're getting to that point where we are going to have to start thinking about the March Flavor. You have the option of voting on a new mod combo, or extending the life of the current one -- though given playership as of late, it might be worth starting with a new mod combo.

Don't forget that we also have new spots for Monthly Moderators, in addition to the possibility of giving Audrey a second term (which is not without merit, she's done a fabulous job).

Okay peeps, this week is polling week, and aside from one new mod arrangement, there has been no other requests for new mods or monthly moderators.  So we will likely reuse a lot of last month's nominees for this upcoming poll, and give Audrey (and Squirrel) a second term.  Again, unless anyone thinks otherwise, speak now or forever hold your peace.
