Captain 'Nathaniel Wrecker's Pirate-y Adventure! (Sign-ups/OOC Discussion)

Oh hey look I got it done within 24 hours. Are you proud of me, ma?   

INTRODUCTION

Captain ‘Nathaniel Wrecker’ was hardly as well-known and awesome-looking as he wished when his ship limped into harbor. Brackenbruque Island was a general rest-stop and repair-shop for ships of all kinds, especially his kind. Privateers and - God forbid - pirates were not uncommon in these waters, though many were picky enough in their targets to avoid getting shot on sight when seeking repairs and new crew here. Of course, there was that whole fleet of much-less-picky pirates known as the Bloodletter Blades that were practically waging a war with Brackenbruque, but that wasn’t Nathaniel’s problem.

...Well, okay, so they sort of just wrecked his ship, but they weren’t his biggest current problem. Right now he needed to work on repairs… and get a brand new crew.

Soon enough, in taverns, bars, inns, pubs, etc., there were posters and notices quickly set up advertising Captain Nathaniel Wrecker’s ship, letting readers know that he was open to all sizes and races (purportedly), offered decent pay, and was getting his ship ready for adventure (and possibly waging war on bad-er pirates, but that was a given).

CHARACTER SHEET

This is what you’re going to have to fill out to ‘apply’ for the RP. I’m not going to let just anyone waltz in, because that will get messy.

Name: (Self-explanatory. For this RP, something that sounds like it’d be in a fantasy universe is better than a sci-fi-sounding name)
Age: (Rough estimates [kid, young adult, middle-aged, old, ancient] are okay, but if they’re very young or very old, I prefer a more exact age. Also, if we could limit the amount of tweens/teens/children in general…)
Race: (More like ‘size’, but some people might want to be human-sized but, say, very reptilian or feline. Thus, race. Name it, and give a brief description of it’s abilities.)
Appearance: (Pictures are great, and they don’t have to be made by you. I personally just use Google Images to find mine)
Magic: (Yes/no, here, as well as level of training [apprentice, master, etc.]. Magic is a little uncommon amongst human-sized races, fairly common and relatively powerful among tiny-sized races, and very rare among giants)
Biography: (What’s happened to your character before the start of the RP? This doesn’t have to be a novel, a paragraph or two should be enough, but a limit of at least a paragraph will be enforced. This should also give me a feel for your character, and explain why they’re joining a pirate ship.)
Personality: (Rather self-explanatory. A general summary of your character’s personality)
Equipment: (Everything your character uses. Don’t be vague, use bullet-points if you have to, and if I don’t like the power of this equipment, I will let you know. Also, general guidelines…
Humans: have 17th-18th century technology. Muskets, cannons, basic pirate-y ships, cutlasses, etc. They can also have some magic [not much, though…]
Tinies: are closer to steampunk in their technology. Also have more powerful magic than humans.
Giants: think closer to medieval times for technology, if even then. A full set of plate armor would be extremely expensive for these guys, for example. Also, magic is very, very rare amongst giant races.)
Misc: (Anything you feel I missed, or want to add [i.e., pets], go ahead and jot down in this section. Keep it organized!)

Magic: Unable to use it, but has a lot of knowledge about the art itself.

Biography: Originally a hobo on Brackenbruque Island, he liked to hang around the bar, drinking the leftover ale from the mugs of overdrunk sailors.  His past is unknown to many, and people aren't sure if he knows who his parents were.  He did learn to read and write somehow, and was even extensively taught in the art of magic, even though the closest thing he can get to magic is creating a little bit of steam from his finger.  When he found out that Nathaniel Wrecker needed a crew, he thought joining would be a good way to explore the world, and to try different types of leftover beer... he was getting tired of the same old stuff at the bar.

Personality: Quiet, inward, and usually drunk, yet quite intelligent when he isn't.

Equipment: Not much, just his tattered clothes and little knick knacks he found on the docks.

Misc: Likes to hang out in the cargo hold, away from the rest of the crew, and will not let go of any money he touches... he won't even spend it.  When asked why, he just says he's saving for something... it is unknown what.

Race: Human
Appearance: Long black hair, one Blue eye, and one Yellow eye she hides with her hair, light skin, Somewhat tall for a normal human, Skinny.
Magic: Yes, Advanced
Biography: Stella was born in a small town by the river, she never knew her real parents because they died too soon. The orphanage she went to was torture, because she was gifted with her yellow eye, and minor magic powers, something uncommon for her race. The other kids didn't see it as a gift, they saw her as a witch... when she turned 19, she was to be burnt at the stake, but they didn't count on her fleeing in the middle of the night. She soon found out that Captain Nathaniel Wrecker needed a crew, so she joined, having a good knowledge of the sea and sky. She hopes that she may be able to fit in.
Personality: Quiet, somewhat Intelligent, sometimes uses old English without meaning to, Kindhearted, Bookworm.
Equipment: Just a wand, rusty knife, and some clothing.
Misc: She spends most time in her room when not working, sometimes has flashbacks of childhood, she works hard, and finishes fast, and seems to not really care about money though...

Name: Fisk (The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle XD)
Age: 18
Race: Human
Appearance: Bulky and about 5' 10, brown eyes and short brown hair.
Magic: None, has some intelligence for it.
Biography: When Fisk was young, he had always wanted to sail the sea.  He loved to travel places, whether it was just to a city a few miles away, or a trip around the world. His parents, however, didn't like this. They didn't like anything he liked. So they left him. He was given just a knife and a hardtack loaf to survive. He travelled to the nearest town the next day and saw that Captain Nathaniel Wrecker needed a crew to sail with and fix his ship. It was his dream come true! He also approved of the decent pay which would be just enough for him to survive. He joined the crew almost instantly after seeing the poster. He just couldn't wait.
Personality: Energetic and kind. He is, however, short tempered and sometimes annoying.
Equipment: A sharp knife from his parents, and some worn down overalls.
Misc: Loves to talk with people, and tries to make friends with every person he finds.

And since I forgot, here’s a template character - your illustrious captain Nathaniel.

Age: Middle aged, at least, he looks it. Not being human, his true age is uncertain...
Race: Crabman. A species of… well, crab-like men. Appearance and abilities vary, but Nathaniel has four heavily-armored legs, half a claw replacing his left forearm, and half of his head has been plated in chitin. He has no magical ability so to speak, preferring physical combat over controlling supernatural forces.
In terms of size, he is somewhere around 1.5x on the 'gulliver scaling'.
Appearance:

Magic: As mentioned above, absolutely none. He doesn’t quite despise magic-users, but he respects those who use ‘their own gorram stuff’.
Biography: “That’s for me to keep to myself. None of you get the same excuse, scallywags…”
Personality: Irritable, loud, and large. That’s basically all there is to know about him at this stage...
Equipment: His ship, the Claw, the crew, his odd, half-flesh hat, a simple arming sword, and an odd collection of strange and very varied skulls (none of which seem to be human, or of any sentient race for that matter, thankfully).
Misc: He’s your boss, and you will do what he says or risk the plank.

Name: Alfonz Zenokova.
Age: 16.
Race: Human.
Appearance: About 5'7" and sort of skinny. Black, shaggy hair and usually wears a leather coat with a white undershirt and jeans.
Magic: None.
Biography: As a child, Alfonz loved to read books of adventurers and pirates, and always wished that one day, he too could be an adventurer himself and sail the seas and hunt for untold riches. But unfortunately, when he was only 13 years old, a group of bandits robbed his home and killed his parents, leaving him to helplessly escape. Since then he's been homeless, but he himself became a little thief, making a living off pickpocketing others and stealing small things, coming close to getting in some big trouble but is quick on his feet and always manages. He also has a day job at the bar in Brackenbruque. One day while tediously cleaning some glasses at the bar, he spotted one of Nathaniel Wrecker's posters about him needing a crew. He then knew that that was his opportunity to leave his terrible life and follow the dream he's always wanted.
Personality: Outgoing and kind but also mischievous and sly. He has a habit of letting his bravery blind him and ends up jeopardizing his and his friend's safety.
Equipment: Only an outfit his father had given him and a durable steel sword with a deep black, ruby encrusted grip and guard.
Misc: Only a couple weeks before his parents were killed, his father had given him the beloved sword as a birthday gift. He knew how much he wished to be an adventurer and had it hand made especially for him. Alfonz cherishes the sword and always carries it with him.

Name: Wyck Vesnash

Age: 26

Race: Reptile, about the average size of a human, but can naturally breathe a small amount of fire. His race is often looked down upon, because they are different and their history, so most live in poverty on the streets.

Appearance:

Magic: Can breathe out a small jet of flame (nowhere near enough to be used as a weapon) that he often uses to ignite his explosives, which he prefers over any magic. Why spend the time casting when you can blow the damn thing up?

Biography: Being found on the streets stealing food and possessions to live as a child, he was taken in by a gang of thieves and outlaws. They cared for him like their own son, showing what little generosity they had to him. In their company, he learned all manner of skills and often practiced making tiny homemade explosives as a hobby, to pass the time when cooped up in the den, unable to leave for fear of revealing the hideout. At the age of 19 he was taking part with the new 'family' in heists and raids all around town, back then he was an energetic cheerful youth, their generosity and merry nature rubbing off on him. It didn't last long though, his group were caught by the city watch and hauled away to prisons in far off lands. Wyck barely managed to escape himself. Now alone, he looks for any opportunity to make money using the skills he learned. He harbors a hatred for the guard and the laws they enforce, being bitter about his 'family' being taken away, changing him into the grumpy, angry rouge he is today. He heard about the ship looking for crew and figured it would be a good way to earn some coin, whether hed share it or not...

Personality: Cynical, grumpy, selfish, very rarely smiles.... when he does you should be worried

Equipment: He carries small and large explosives on his tool belt and jacket which is his main form of attack. He also carries a small rusty pistol for added defense. (lemme know if you need details)

Misc: Tends to spit when irritated or impatient. Also likes to stare at flames when bored. Likes to cause chaos and can be a bit unstable, like his bombs. Doesnt talk with a pirate accent, but uses a lot of slang and a lower class accent, from his time in the gangs.

Age: 28
Race: Half-Elf but hides her ears under her hair as she is ashamed of her race.

Appearance: Small for her age 5,0. Dirty blonde hair usually in a ponytail, simple clothing (As shown in picture) as she 'Does not care for appearance'. Never found without her toolpack on her back. Has a mechanical leg.


Magic: "If you count being an extremely skilled inventor as magic!"

Biography: Annabell was at the age of only 4 when she started tinkering with machinery with her father, she has the ability to easily assemble weapons from old parts of machines and such, but after 24 years of the same routine she decided to change. When she turned 28 she decided to look for a different service which could use her abilities. One day when she was about to give up she found a notice letting the town know of a sailor who needed a crew. She instantly set out to find this 'Nathaniel Wrecker' fellow.

Personality: "Yes? As you can see I am quite busy so can you maybe come back in perhaps a few weeks."

Equipment: Her Trusty Revolvers, Her Toolpack (A Backpack with tools and spare parts)

Misc: Has been found to get frustrated when bossed around.

Name: Ravio (not having to do with Mario xD)

Age: 20

Race: Hedgehawg

Appearance: Appears to be 3ft 3"

Magicz: Mostly none.

Biography: Ravio doesn't remember about his past. When he was about 10 or 11, he started to have problems with his additude, ranging from super nice, to super naughty. One day, he hear about dis pirate crew, he decided to join, because he wanted treasure and LOOT!

Personality: Lazy, stubborn, greedy, and mostly shy.

Equipment: Armed with muskets, pistols and stuff.

Misc.: Nuthin'.

"Hm... a lizard, eh? Now laddie, I'm not feelin' too good about your past - stealing, and what-not, but seein' that your kind's put down like that, I think I can make one exception. 'Sides, I'm practically the closest thing you've got to a cousin around here!" He laughs heartily, before stopping abruptly and eyeing Wyck carefully. "Just no blowing up the Claw, or I'll have to take... disciplinary action. Get me?"

"An inventor, eh? I could definitely use someone like you..." The captain scratches at his chin, eyeing her. "But lemme tell you two things - one, your gonna get bossed around. A lot. By me. And you will be perfectly fine with it, or you're out of the job - get me? Two, if you've got one of them tiny-folk with you telling you their technical secrets," He eyes her strange pistols pointedly, given only tinies tend to have that kind of tech. "Just show 'em to me before we all regret it, aye?"

((Revolvers are a biiiit high tech, considering this is the age of flintlock pistols, but besides that you're good to go!))

Magicz: He's the inbodyment of chaos and can use all 7 chaos emeralds to turn into Super Shadow.

Biography: Shadow doesn't remember about his past. When he was about 10 or 11, he started to have problems with his additude, ranging from super nice, to super naughty. When he was 23, he teamed up with Sonic to save the world from destruction from The Biolizard. He fell down to earth, crashing onto the land. His memory was gone after the crash. he didn't remember a thing. Then, the whole side of Westoplis was being invaded by aliens! He took out the aliens and this mysterious thing called Black Doom said to shadow that he can tell him all about his past. But, it came with a price, he had to get all 7 chaos emeralds. After he got all of them, he was told about his past, after doing so, he betrayed Black doom and killed him once and for all! (This took about 5 minutes to type xD)

Personality: Lazy, stubborn, and mostly shy.

Equipment: Armed with muskets, pistols and stuff.

Misc.: Nuthin'.

Captain Nathaniel Wrecker wordlessly pulls a massive flintlock on Shadow and puts him down before any further trouble can be caused by either party.

Personality: Cynical, grumpy, selfish, very rarely smiles.... when he does you should be worried

Equipment: He carries small and large explosives on his tool belt and jacket which is his main form of attack. He also carries a small rusty pistol for added defense. (lemme know if you need details)

Misc: Tends to spit when irritated or impatient. Also likes to stare at flames when bored. Likes to cause chaos and can be a bit unstable, like his bombs. Doesnt talk with a pirate accent, but uses a lot of slang and a lower class accent, from his time in the gangs.

And you will be perfectly fine with it, or you're out of the job - get me? Two, if you've got one of them tiny-folk with you telling you their technical secrets," He eyes her strange pistols pointedly, given only tinies tend to have that kind of tech. "Just show 'em to me before we all regret it, aye?"

He took out the aliens and this mysterious thing called Black Doom said to shadow that he can tell him all about his past. But, it came with a price, he had to get all 7 chaos emeralds. After he got all of them, he was told about his past, after doing so, he betrayed Black doom and killed him once and for all! (This took about 5 minutes to type xD)

Personality: Lazy, stubborn, and mostly shy.

Equipment: Armed with muskets, pistols and stuff.

No one, not even he, knows how he lost his right eye. Some say he was cursed and was memory-wiped the same day. Strong, and surprisingly agile for his size, no task is too big for him to handle. He recently departed from his more-inland village to seek adventure. He came across the wanted poster one day behind the local fish market, totally not searching through the trash for a still-edible meal. He figured it would be a good way to earn money, and to restore his pride with his kind for his little accident with the fishing hut. Plus, who wouldn't say no to a chance to be near tons of sea-dwelling fish? >w<

Personality: Swift to learn, but somewhat gullible. Friendly when others are, and loves to make jokes. Although clumsy, he is quick to follow orders. As long as the boss is satisfied, he's happy. Politely stubborn to anyone who isn't of higher rank, though.

Equipment: 'The Scratcher,' which is merely a stick with a massive, sharp fang attached to it. Sturdy woven pouch to store random valuables. Skilled with a bow, but doesn't carry one.

Misc: Will do almost anything for a few fish. Since he has only one eye, he twitches his right ear as a 'wink'.

One week later he started training to get stronger and his father teached him how to handle with the Pistole correctly. If he was 12 his father was killed by a pirate. He was really sad about this and decided to left home to get be a pirate. He was in many Crews and got even stronger and flexible to his 16 age.
Personality: is a really nice guy and does anything to protect his Crew

If you want in on an RP, the name of the game is being creative. And yes, it takes lot's of time out of your schedule. It is rewarding, though.

If you don't have time, and you don't think you can get your creative juices flowing the way you want them to (there is no such thing as 'not being creative'!), then RPing in general probably isn't for you.

She's mostly clumsy, and she has grey eyes that, as people say, are the same color as storm clouds. She has an earring that's made from precious metal, and its shaped like a music note to symbolize her love for music.
Personality: Mostly friendly, unless you hurt her friends :v
Equipment: She's good with ranged equipment, so she has a bow from her family.
Misc: Easily gets seasick, and tries to make friends with practically everyone. Plays the violin and is a lover of music.

The name was never a problem. What is the problem is his equipment, which I forgot to mention, and his new bio. I don't like characters that don't remember their past, because that's a blatant show of laziness - not lack of creativity - and it means you can pull all sorts of things out of his past to derail the RP, whether by accident or not.

Biography: Alfonz's father actually had sailed the seas himself. He had his own ship he had bought after saving up a lot of money. He had sailed far and wide, charting lands and exploring. At 15, Alfonz's father had taken him with him on one of his voyages. His father had taught him some basics of being successful at venturing out and exploring new lands. From this, Alfonz's crave for adventure had brewed up, and he always anticipated the day he could sail on his own. But one day, his father had gone out on another expedition and never came back. He had assumed he had shipwrecked and was devastated. Since then, he had taken ownership of their home, barely managing to pay it off. He had been working at the bar in Brackenbruque, pretty much hating his life at that point. Then, he had noticed one of Nathaniel Wrecker's posters about needing a crew. This beckoned to him as a chance to finally follow in his father's footsteps and live his dream, and the decent pay seemed good enough to get him back on his feet. He then took off in search of Nathaniel.

Personality: Outgoing, kind, and courageous. He has a habit of letting his bravery get in the way of his safety.

Equipment: Some clothing and a long steel sword with a deep black, ruby encrusted grip and guard that his father had given him, and he cherishes it and always has it at his side. He also has some tools such as a compass and maps.

Misc: Thanks to his father, he has some knowledge of sailing a ship and exploring, and is pretty good with a sword.

Name: Keeper of Shadows (He doesnt Know/have name) (Likes to have a nickname)

Age: Unknown Probally really old xD

Race: Half Ghost Half Shadow creature


Appearance: Looks like a evil mastermind but he truly isnt one. He's all made out of Shadows but can change forms. He looks 90 % of all the time like a wolf/Dog If he gets in fights though he changes to a more human form...

Magic: A master of the Shadows he can trap weak enemies in his star and make them fight for him, other then that he can peform many other Shadow spells such as setting up portals. If he ever finds the light star
he can peform such a strong spell with the other Keeper to make a wish come true.


Biography: Keeper of Shadows he was born in the magical Shadow Star on Darkcrypt Isle. Which was on the pedestal of darkness. If the star ever got removed from the pedestal a keeper would be freed.
One day a big storm hit the isle washing the star from its pedestal. The Keeper picked up the Star put it on a bone creating his scepter. Since then the Keeper is looking for the Light star to free
the Light Keeper, Not shortly after giving up he found a poster behind a wall saying that Captain Nathaniel was looking for Crew... This would be his only change to maybe find the other Keeper.

Personality: Serious, Likes to have someone to help him. If he succeeds in a tasks he dissapears really fast. the day after a dissapearens his helper will get the luckiest day ever


Equipment: The Bone staff. It makes him peform magic and other happenings And the Shadow Star. If the star ever gets lost then the Keeper will be unable to use magic. if the star is lost for a week he is forced to be imprisoned.


Misc: Has a map to Sunstone isle where the pedestal of light is located.

Age: Look around her late 20's/early 30's, she just says "Middle aged"


Race: You can clearly see she's a feline, almost as clear as you can tell she's a tiny. However if you were to put her by another tiny she'll be bigger than them (Her gulliver size is 0.1875)

Magic: She dabbles alot in alchemy and always keeps brewing supplies on her. She's also no stranger to enchanting items even though she doesn't do it often.


Biography: Even as a kid she'd hope to be a sailor. It was an obvious choice to make since all of her ancestors were all well known sailors in their times, despite their sizes. All of them when on grand adventures, all of them were praised. Growing up she still had this ambition to become a sailor so one by one she gathered people to join her crew and at the age of 20, set off. Them few years were one of the greatest but it all changed when her best mate said it's time to stop with the sailing. Victoria disagreed and tried to make them stay, but they had enough with this sailing and with Victoria. Waking up the next day one eyeless and the whole crew against her she was thrown off her own ship. A few years, part time jobs and bits of her positive attitude went by and she was still kicking herself about that moment. Seeing the posters around she thought she could regain her family's reputation again.


Personality: Doesn't speak when spoken too, but when she does speak she's snarky, sarcastic and damm right bitchy. She follows orders but she doesn't do it with the perkiest of attitudes. If you do catch her smiling she'd either 
Taken revenge on someone
Drunk alot
Found a butt load of treasure 


Equipment: She has a sapphire enchanted sword that was passed down generations and has now made it to her. It's a bit warned out but it still gets the job done. 
She normally uses splash potions in battle so she had them ready on her 
belt, most of them are blindness and poisoning. 
On her belt also is an enchanted pouch where she keep all her belonging (Which is quite alot) and they never weigh her down


Misc: She's quite fast for her size and very quite. She doesn't sleep at night all the time so she'll be good at night time lookout (But that doesn't mean she won't try and get a few cat naps in the morning)

"..." The captain stares at the strange shadow creature for a long, long moment. "...There are plenty of other ships that could use creepy ancient shadow things and won't mind them hoppin' off if they find their ancient light friend or whatever."

((There are lot's of things I don't like about this character - namely all the unknowns. He doesn't know his name, age, even specific race, and I get this really bad feeling that all this shadow, light, and star stuff is based off of some game/book/movie I haven't played/read/watched yet.

I'm not entirely sure what you could do to salvage this character, but re-writing a new, original character that doesn't sound mysterious and OP feels like the safest solution to me.))

Rather than get interviewed by the captain, however, an apparent lackey of his (looking something like this: http://pmctvline2.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/mice-and-men-fred-koehler120120092847.jpg) found her around the island. For a long moment he seems rather frightened by the fact that a) she's very much a cat, and b) is bigger than her, even if it isn't by much.

H-he just wanted to be sure y-you weren't gonna try being the cap'n yourself, but... ah, I don't think he's very much afraid of you replacin' him, unless he's dead an' all. I think that means you're a first mate, or somethin' like that..."
